This is helpful for users who are preparing for their exams, interviews, or professionals who would like to brush up their fundamentals on the biosensor. A biosensor is an analytical device which composes of two components a bio component which is also called a bio receptive and a transducer. The function of the bio component is to produce a physiochemical reaction in response to the analyte whereas the transducer converts the physiochemical signal into an electrical signal, which is then converted into an electronic display. The biosensors have the advantage of low manufacturing cost, fast response time, portable, ease of use, and the most important characteristics of biosensors are their highest specificity and sensitivity which could provide continuous real-time signals. A biosensor is composed of majorly four attributes such as linearity, sensitivity, selectivity, and response time. The linearity is the range in which the sensor gives a positive response against the analyte and it is desirable to have a wide linear range to have a high to the low detection limit of the analyte. The sensitivity is the minimum value or the minimum amount of analyte which a sensor can sense. The immobilization techniques play an important role in biosensor development. The immobilization techniques involved in biosensor development are basically of four types they are physical entrapment, adsorption, covalent bonding, and cross-linking. 1).
